VeryGames have beaten the new fnatic squad in the grand final of FACEIT July Cup 2-0 (16-13 on de_dust2_se & 16-14 on de_mirage_ce) and won $800 for their efforts. In the culmination of FACEIT's July season, four winners of the weekly Saturday cups met with four invited teams in the battle for a share of a $1,500 monthly prize purse. All of the teams that received direct invites, which included the new fnatic squad along with VeryGames, n!faculty and Western Wolves, made it through the best-of-one quarter-finals.
The only team that faced trouble in the first round were the Danes Western Wolves, who played with a stand-in Sebastian "Isenbo" Riising against Finnish mix-team ONLINERzz, as they had to come back from a 2-13 first half deficit on de_dust2_se to eventually win 16-14. However, they didn't last long in the tournament since fnatic then knocked them out in the semi-final with 16-6 on de_inferno and 16-13 on de_dust2_se, despite Matthias "MSL" Lauridsen coming back for the second map of the clash. The other side of the bracket was delayed due to VeryGames' Mad Catz Invitational match against Lemondogs, but as soon as they dealt with that task, the French-Belgian team returned to FACEIT and disposed of DreamHack Valencia winners n!faculty, winning 16-7 on de_dust2_se and 16-11 on de_mirage_ce.
The grand final between fnatic and VeryGames began well after midnight local time with the first map being de_dust2_se. Despite going down 9-6 at the half, Kevin "Ex6TenZ" Droolans' squad executed their T-side quite well and ended up winning 16-13. de_mirage_ce was equally, if not even more interesting with fnatic this time going ahead 11-4 as terrorists, but VG once again making their way back. With some impressive play by Richard "shox" Papillon the RaidCall EMS One Summer champions overturned the score and took the lead late in the game. It all came down to the last round though, and it was the seemingly out-of-shape Adil "ScreaM" Benrlitom that clutched an excellent 1-on-2 to win the map 16-14 and thus the match 2-0.
